Brittany had said those words in her head, written them in her diary, and even practiced them out loud to her stuffed animals, but she'd only ever actually told Santana she loved her once. Just after she and Artie had broken up. But with them not being completely out to people at school, they'd never said them again. Brittany had wanted to though. She hadn't exactly planned to say them tonight, but she'd been so overwhelmed with the entire day and especially tonight that she'd just said them. It was really no surprise, Brittany didn't have many filters, she often just said whatever was in her head. It had been hard for her to not say how she felt before, so now that she realized what she said, she was kind of nervous. But as Santana reached up and caressed her cheek, whispering those words back to her, her heart swelled even more than it already was. It was the best day of her life.
She just looked at Santana, that smile permanently plastered on her face as the Latina pulled away, taking the box from her hand. Brittany stayed quiet, not taking her eyes from those brown ones gazing into her own as she held up the ring and started to speak. Her heart was racing and her stomach filled with butterflies at the words being spoken to her. It felt like a dream, like the best dream she'd ever had, hearing Santana's promises. If it was possible, Brittany fell even more in love with the brunette in that moment. "I promise too, San." She finally said, after a few long seconds of silence. "I love you, too. Like, so much." With that, she pulled Santana back down to her for a deep kiss. "This is the best Valentine's Day ever." She said, still smiling as she held up her hand and admired her ring. "Do you want me to put your necklace on?"
