Brittany had her first kiss before Santana. They were in seventh grade, and she just walked right up to Michael Hunt at recess and kissed him right on the lips with their whole class, Santana included, watching in astonishment. It wasn't anything passionate or romantic, but it lasted a very long few moments. When she was finished, she only flashed him that sweet smile and bounced back over to Santana.

Santana couldn't believe what she'd seen. Sure, Brittany had made a comment about Michael being cute during their math class, but she would never have expected that out of her. "What was that?" she hissed, dragging Brittany off to a tree at the edge of the soccer field.

"A kiss. Duh," Brittany answered simply. She'd thought that was pretty obvious. Didn't Santana know what a kiss was?

Santana rolled her eyes. "I know, but why?"

Brittany shrugged. "He's cute, and I wanted to kiss him." The answer elicited a scoff from Santana, and Brittany frowned and confusion began to show plainly on her face. "Was I not supposed to kiss him?"

Santana shrugged, looking down at her feet instead of up at Brittany. "No. I don't know. Never mind." She felt stupid now. She shouldn't be making Brittany think she wasn't allowed to kiss the boy. It wasn't her problem.

Brittany, though still confused by Santana's reaction, let the subject drop. They spent the rest of their recess period with Quinn Fabray when she found them, gossiping and gushing about the cute eighth grade boys.

Brittany went home with Santana after school. She almost always did, because Santana's house was much nicer than hers, and she actually got real food there. (Her mom wasn't a very good cook, but Mrs. Lopez was, and she was trying to teach Santana, too.) When they got home, they went right up to Santana's bedroom to start their homework.

Santana was very patient with Brittany. She knew her best friend didn't always understand everything, and she wanted to help her. But after a while, even her patience wore thin and she decided they'd better take a break. She pushed her stuff aside and moved over to her bed, stretching out on top of her sheets, opening her arms for Brittany, who happily curled up against her.

After a few minutes of quiet, Brittany looked up at Santana from her shoulder. "Tana? Are you...mad that I kissed Michael?"

Santana sighed, pressing her forehead against Brittany's. "No," she answered quietly. All day, ever since she'd seen Brittany kiss that boy, she'd been feeling weird. She didn't feel mad, but she hadn't liked what she'd seen.

Brittany nodded a little bit against Santana's forehead. She didn't want Santana to be mad at her, especially over a silly boy. She'd just thought he was cute, that was all. "I still like you better," she told Santana, looking into her eyes. "And I wanna kiss you, too. Like, a whole lot." Without waiting for Santana to speak, she leaned in and did it, pressing her lips against Santana's.

At first, Santana didn't know how to react. Her whole body tensed, and all she could think was that Brittany was kissing her. She'd never been kissed, and she'd never thought Brittany would be the first one to do it. But then, she realized how good it felt. Brittany's lips were soft and warm, and her fingers were tracing gentle circles against the back of Santana's neck. Santana relaxed, her arms winding around Brittany's waist, her lips pressing against Brittany's experimentally. It felt good. She felt butterflies fluttering in the pit of her stomach, especially when Brittany nibbled on her bottom lip and her lips automatically parted, making room for the blonde's tongue to slip inside and nudge playfully against hers.

It was then that Santana knew - she wanted to kiss Brittany from now until forever.
