Every year, when winter break came round, Santana and Brittany had their certain traditions. One of these traditions was baking. While Santana wasn't much of a baker, Brittany always seemed to enjoy it, but she did have a little trouble getting the recipes straight -- which was where Santana came in.

This year, they weren't on the best of terms. They were friends, even after Santana's freak-out during their duets challenge in Glee, but things still weren't quite the same. Santana liked to think they were getting better, but truthfully, Brittany spent a lot more time with Artie outside of school these days than she did Santana. Santana was hoping that winter break would be her chance to set things right and, if she was lucky, get Brittany to ditch Wheels and come back to her.

Wearing sweatpants and a long-sleeved shirt she wouldn't mind getting dirty, Santana made her way to Brittany's about ten minutes after the blonde called. She was excited and walked right into the Pierce house (after so many years, it was like a second home) when she arrived, calling out, "Britt!" as she moved into the living room to crash on the couch.

Santana settled back into the couch, smiling when Brittany's head found its place on her lap. She immediately started stroking blonde hair, out of habit, paying more attention to the other girl than the movie. She'd seen the movie a million times, and while it was a classic, she preferred looking at Brittany. Last year, they'd have started making out halfway through the movie, but she didn't think that would be happening now.

Brittany smiled when she felt Santana's hand stroking her hair. It was always so comforting. And they were just friends, friends snuggled right? She wasn't doing anything wrong. But she also couldn't quit thinking about kissing the other girl. She missed that aspect of things. A lot.

She tried to stop thinking about it, focusing instead on the movie. Rolling over, she looked up at Santana and studied her for a minute. But instead of saying anything, she rolled back over and looked at the TV. This was way harder than she thought it was going to be.

Brittany caught Santana by surprise when she rolled over and started looking at her. Her heart started racing, and she was ready to lean in and just do it. the Brittany turned back to the TV, and...her heart kind of sank. Her chance was blown. She frowned a bit, looking at the screen again.

Brittany felt Santana's eyes on her. She hated this awkwardness between them. It made her feel weird and upset her stomach even. She just wanted things to go back to the way they were before they got into that fight.

She laid there quietly for a few minutes, just watching the movie, but she couldn't stop thinking about everything. Rolling over again, she just looked up at Santana curiously, not saying a word.

Santana's breath caught when Brittany turned and just kept looking at her. She smiled sadly at her friend, letting her fingers move gently over Brittany's cheek. "You're beautiful, B," she said softly.

Brittany just looked up at Santana as she rubbed gently over her cheek, telling her she was beautiful. She couldn't help but smile, a warm blush coloring her cheeks. "You are too." She whispered back, not taking her eyes from Santana's.

Santana's first instinct was to say something cocky like 'of course I am', but she bit her tongue. "Sit up," she instructed quietly.

Brittany nodded, pushing herself up into a sitting position as Santana had requested.

Santana turned and slowly placed her cool hands on Brittany's cheeks. "I'm...so sorry," she whispered. It was very rare for Santana to apologize for anything, even to Brittany -- she never regretted her actions. But this, she did. She'd lost her best friend because she was stupid and too socially conscious.

Brittany fought to not let her eyes fall closed as she felt Santana's hands against her cheeks. She stayed quiet, her blue eyes locked on the chocolate brown ones in front of her. As Santana apologized, Brittany felt her heart seize up, butterflies stirring in her stomach. Santana never apologized. "It's okay." Brittany whispered back. "I understand."

"It's not," Santana said firmly, looking deep into Brittany's eyes. "Even if I wasn't interested, I shouldn't have been such a total bitch. Not to you. Not to my B," she murmured. "You didn't deserve that."

Brittany's frown grew deeper as Santana continued to apologize. But she didn't look away, she kept her eyes looked on the brunette's. "I didn't. But..." The blonde shrugged. "I was really mad at you, but I'm not now."

Santana nodded, sighing. She was lucky to have a best friend like this. One who was so forgiving, who just let this go. "Because you have Wheels?" she asked, curious.

"Not just because of him." Brittany replied with a shrug. It wasn't just him. It was also her feelings she still had for Santana. "Because of you too."

Santana's eyebrows drew together as she looked at Brittany. "Because of me...?"

Brittany nodded, the serious look never leaving her face as she gazed into Santana's eyes. "Yes. Because of you." She shrugged again. "You should know that."

"God, Britt." Santana brushed a lock of Brittany's hair off her cheek, her heart racing in her chest. She took hold of Brittany's arms and surged forward, pressing her lips to Brittany's. She sighed happily into the blonde's mouth.

Brittany's heart sped up when Santana uttered those words and she knew what was coming next. She could see it in her eyes, in the way she was looking at her. Sucking in a breath, she didn't even have time to exhale it before Santana's lips were on her own. Her eyes fell closed and she did what had always came naturally, she kissed her back. She couldn't stop herself, she loved Santana. She might be with Artie, but her heart had always belonged to the brunette currently kissing her.

Santana leaned back against the armrest of the couch, her hands sliding down to cup Brittany's ass and coax the blonde on top of her. She'd missed how natural and right kissing Brittany felt. Kissing Puck was rough and sloppy and entirely for sexual purposes. Kissing Brittany didn't always lead to sex; she liked exploring the blonde's mouth, tasting her and just being this close to her.

Somewhere in the back of Brittany's mind she knew this was totally cheating, but she couldn't stop herself. She was always led by her heart when it came to Santana. So, as the brunette's hands slid down over her ass, pulling her over, Brittany climbed over onto her lap, not breaking the kiss. Her hands came up to tangle in the loose raven hair that fell over Santana's shoulders and she held her there, kissing her even deeper. Pressing her tongue into the other girl's mouth, she massaged Santana's tongue with her own. She'd missed this so much. Santana was a really hot kisser and Brittany could (and had) kiss her for hours on end.

Santana moaned into Brittany's mouth when fingers tangled in her hair, and whimpered when Brittany's tongue found hers. She felt like her entire body was on fire, and she squeezed Brittany's ass, tangling her tongue with Brittany's. No one's kisses affected her like Brittany's did. No one else made her heart pound, her pulse race, and her body heat up.

Brittany felt the shiver run up her spine when Santana moaned into her mouth, her stomach tightening with the desire she had always felt for the other girl. Her body was growing warmer by the second, it almost felt like it was on fire. A fire she hadn't felt in weeks now. Pressing her body closer to Santana's, she kissed her more intensely, before pulling back to look at her. "Mmm. Sweet lady kisses." She whispered with a little smirk before leaning back in for more.

"The sweetest," Santana whispered, chuckling. She slid her hands slowly up and down Brittany's back, squeezing her button and keeping her close. She'd missed this. So, so much.

"Mmmhmm." Brittany agreed, her eyes falling closed again as her lips sought out the ones she'd missed for so long. They stayed like that, kissing and rediscovering one another. Things were getting pretty intense when Brittany's phone sounded, playing the ringtone she knew was Artie's. Pulling back, she glanced over where it was laying and back at Santana, biting her lip.

Santana groaned when Brittany pulled away to answer the ringing phone, and she couldn't help but be a little annoyed. She'd finally gotten Brittany right where she'd wanted her, and the damn phone was ringing. "Who is it?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
